How To Save Money On Cable TV

GET RID OF IT!

Seriously, if you are living in a major metropolitan area, and even many rural areas, Digital Broadcast TV is likely available where you are. If you are in the US, have a TV made after 2009 or so, and can attach an antenna, then you can be free of the high cost of cable TV.

The TV must have a digital tuner. If not, you can pick one up at Radio Shack or Walmart. Yes, the channels are different. However, all the basic over the air channels we got before without cable TV are now broadcasting digital. Some of those are even showing multiple channels. One might be the local CBS affiliate, and another has 24 rebroadcasting of local news, and yet another is showing classic 50s, 60s, and 70s shows.

ION/TV will likely be available and the ION network has several channels, if you live in the right place.

Some channels will be similar to the dreck we get on cable, namely, shopping or religious networks. Thing is, you don't PAY for them on free broadcast digital TV!

Once we got shafted out of certain channels that used to be basic, or "First Tier", on Basic Cable, and then had to opt in at extra price for them, well, we were looking for an alternative. A simple, unamplified $25.00 antenna is working for us in the suburb.
