Review: Ozeri Duo Ultra Salt and Pepper Mill

This is a nice little gadget available from Amazon and other places.




With this mill, you can grind both salt and pepper (or any two things that have similar qualities). We know how good fresh ground pepper tastes on salads, steaks, fish, etc... 

It's the grinding of salt that may be new to some. Buying an ultra coarse grind of natural, sea, or kosher salt allows us to grind it as we need. This does for salt flavor the same that grinding peppercorns does for pepper. Adds a fulness to the flavor. Thus, less salt is actually needed.

We like to use it when cooking any meat, but it also enhances any sauce that calls for salt. A fun use is on the skin of baked potatoes. After washing the potato, while it's still wet, grind some salt over the skin. Then, put it in the foil and cook as you normally would. The crunchy starchiness that you get adds a subtle, but very nice, flavor to your potato.

You'll find all sorts of uses once you start using freshly ground salt.
