You can save substantially even at big box stores like Home Depot by signing up for any rewards programs for which you may qualify. 

I'm signed up for a Pro Rewards program based on my business. Percentages off vary based on what you're a pro in, how much you buy, and other things. My program sent me a coupon for an extra percentage off, good one day only. Plus, Home Depot is still giving an extra 5% off for using their credit account. Pay off the balance each month and there's no  interest.

My last purchase I used all three discounts, which came up to 33% off the in store price.

Look for those rewards programs wherever you shop. A little time and possibly a few extra e-mails (which you can always send to spam) may be all you pay for getting huge discounts on things you're already having to buy anyways.
